EMERGING TALENT!

We are scouting for skateboarding talent!

What does it take to be one of the Curly Grrlz you ask? Curly Grrlz is looking for the skateboarding girl who loves this sport, who is progressing in her skills daily and who can represent Curly Grrlz in the best light. Send us a video or DVD of yourself at your best to: Curly Grrlz Sports Sponsorship, PO Box 7016, Groton, CT USA, 06340-7016.

Tip: Include a short narration so we can get to know you better. The Curly Grrlz sponsor video should also include any photocopies of any media coverage you have already had. Don’t just send an e-mail saying "sponsor me".

Stacie Roberts

Curly Grrlz welcomes Stacie Roberts to the team!

Where are you from?   Daytona Beach, FL

How old are you and how long have you been skating?  I'm 19 years old and I've been skating for 6 years.

Biggest accomplishments:
1st place overall in the 2005, 2006, and 2007 Grind For Life series - girls division
2nd place in the All Girls Skate Jam mini-ramp contest at Surf Expo Jan. 2007
5th place overall at the 2007 Oregon Trifecta - womens division
4th overall in the 2007 North American Ladies Bowl Rankings
4th overall in the Open Am division 2007 Florida Bowl Riders Cup series

What got you into skating?  I attended Silver Sands Middle School which had a Freestyle Club led by my 7th grade science teacher .  Twice a week, the club would meet at Stone Edge skatepark for a session with bikes, boards, and blades.  That's how I got hooked on skateboarding.

Noteworthy performances:  Last year I placed 1st at Kona's 2004 Spring Fling in the Girls Street Division, 1st in the Red October Jam at Skatelab in Girls Best All-Around, 2nd at Kona's 2004 Halloween Am Jam in Girls Street, and 1st at Stone Edge’s 2004 Thrash Bash in Girls Street.  I taught lessons at the 2004 OP Girls Learn to Ride at Vans in Orlando, FL.  This year I’ve placed 2nd at Paradise Funplex’s all ages contest on January 8th, 1st at Grind for Life #1, 2 & 3 in the girls’ bowl and street divisions, 3rd at Kona’s 2005 Spring Fling, 1st in the girls’ division and 3rd in the guys’ 16 & up division at the Stone Edge Bowl Bash, 7th out of 18 skaters in Paradise Funplex’s Word Of Mouth contest -16&Up street division (I was the only female to enter), and 1st place over all in the Grind For Life Series in the Girls’ division.

What are your plans this year for skating?  Any comps?   This year I plan on attending several World Cup Events, The Grind For Life Series, The Florida Bowl Riders Cup Series, and any park contests I can get to. I am also going to teach at some GRO (Girls Riders Organization) workshops.

Do you have a nickname?   "Crazie Stacie"

Where’s your favorite place to skate?   Probably my local skatepark, Stone Edge. I go there everyday.

What else do you like to do besides skate? I enjoy taking pictures of my friends skating and I also like drawing and doing other artwork.

What do you want to do when you grow up (besides skate)?  I'm not really sure yet.  I'd like to be a physical therapist and work with handicapped children who have multiple disabilities or I'd like to do something in the skate industry.

Shout outs...Anyone you want to say “Hey!” to?   Marty at Kona, Tary & Jim from Stone Edge, Marla at  Allproskate, Doug from Autobahn Wheels, Vinton from 187 Pads, and all my friends & family who support me.

Sponsors: Curly Grrlz Skateboards, Airspeed shoes, Autobahn Wheels (flow),
Slip Tape, 187 pads, Stone Edge skatepark.
