SKATE SOLDIER DOWN - Everyone needs to pull some cash out of your pocket and help out Andy Kessler. Kessler has spent most of his life giving back to skateboarding, as a skateboarder, skatepark builder, NYC Parks and Rec director, skateboard company owner, journalist, photographer and much more. Kessler was recently skating at the Blind Bowl in NYC when he broke his hip and dislocated his femur. He was just released from the hospital along with a mountain of hospital bills. Kick down what you can to help a fellow skate soldier. You can send donations directly to Kessler via Paypal to punkfirst@earthlink.net or you can send check, money orders and chicken soup to Andy Kessler at 238 East 95th Street Apt 2B New York, NY 10128.

So we receive a call from Forrest from the Mid West WakeFest. He says he was checking out SG Mag when he came across our ad. He said something like "When girl wakeboarders aren't wakeboarding they're skateboarding." and what would we think about being a sponsoring of the MWWF. We thought about it, checked out their site and said, "Sure!" (We actually thought, "Let's pack up the SUV and make a road trip.") So if you're in Ottawa, Illinois on July 16 th through the 18 th check out the MWWF and the Curly Grrlz stuff. Here's their web site: www.midwestwakefest.com

We're talking to Dawn and somehow we got on the conversation of surfboarding in California (We always love to talk about California ). Our conversation inevitably leads to the Queen of the Surf, Boarding for Breast Cancer http://www.sgmag.com/queenofsurf/, suddenly, we're sending some stuff to support the event. As if that wasn't enough, we call Fran and say, "Hey Fran we need a really cool surfboard sticker for the girls." So, Fran whips up the coolest Tribal Grrl sticker, which we promptly stick on our SUV. (PS. If you're on the mailing list we'll send you one, while we have them.)
